Used Bathtubs Are Often Like Brand New

Used bathtubs are often a good solution to finding a cheap bathtub that looks like new. Many times when a house is sold the new owner does not like the tub that is in the home, even though it may be brand new or almost new. Rather than throwing it out, it may be sold as a used item.  Another source of used bathtubs that are brand new are those that have been purchased for remodeling jobs that did not make it to completion for one reason or another. It is possible to buy one of these for around half the price that you would pay for a new one.

Buyers sometimes look for cheap used bathtubs when an old or scratched tub needs to be replaced. It is almost always cheaper to buy a used tub than to pay for refinishing an old tub. Bathrooms in older homes that have a vintage look may need to have their claw foot tub replaced with a new one. It is possible to find used claw foot tubs online and new ones are sold as well.

Kohler makes a very nice vintage bathtub in cast iron that is sold in sizes larger than the old original tubs. These can occasionally be found where used bathtubs are sold. This tub is an off white color and has black iron legs with intricate carving. It is made to be used for a soaking tub that is free standing. There are contraptions sold that allow the bath water to be filled about two or three inches more than usual so that it is deep for soaking. The newer tubs often have non-skid bottoms that are safer for getting in and out of the tub.

Any type of bathtub that is sold new can be found where used bathtubs are sold. There are fiberglass corner styles that have been too large or too small for the job that they were intended to be used for or other sizes that were not exactly right. Contractors have horror stories about buying tubs that did not quite fit into a bathroom that then required a major remodeling to make it fit in. Some people just sell the bathtub rather than spending thousands of dollars remodeling.

Some of the deals that are available on used bathtubs save the buyer from 25 percent to 50 percent off the original price of the tub, even though it was probably never used. Anyone thinking of buying a new bathtub or of beginning a bathroom remodeling job would do well to check the used bathtubs that are available. Buying a luxury soaking tub can be very expensive, but it can become a reality if you are lucky to find the one you want sold as a used tub.
